Phil Taylor, the legendary darts player, has revealed he is done with darts after a costly divorce saw him lose around half of his estimated £3million fortune.

What happened to Phil Taylor's darts career?

The 16-time world champion, widely regarded as the greatest darts player of all time, has traded packed arenas and television audiences for diggers, fencing and manual labour at a new venue called Taylor’s Bar in Burslem.

He now goes by the nickname The Power Drill as he embraces a very different lifestyle in retirement.

Why did Phil Taylor leave darts?

Taylor explained how much he enjoys the physical work after decades at the top of professional darts, and has no desire to return to the sport which made him famous.

The Stoke-on-Trent icon, now 65, admitted: I don’t even own a set of darts now.

What's next for Phil Taylor?

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Taylor discussed his new life as a labourer, and how he is enjoying the change of pace.

He has been working on a building site, helping to build a pub and family attraction in Staffordshire.

The former darts champion has been using his new skills to help with the construction of the venue.

And he has been getting to know the locals, who are excited to have him on board.
